Haverhill ‘Haverheart for the Hospice’ five mile walk – Sunday February 17th 2013

The ‘Haverheart for the Hospice’ walk is designed to raise funds and awareness of the excellent work St Nicholas Hospice Care offers the local community.

The Hospice works compassionately in the fields of life-shortening illness, death and bereavement, providing practical, medical and spiritual support to local people and their families living in West Suffolk and Thetford with an illness that is life-shortening; such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and heart or lung disease. The hospice delivers care at its inpatient Sylvan Ward or within a patient’s home, which is delivered by a multi-disciplinary team, which may include consultants, doctors, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, nurses, complementary therapists and physiotherapists.
The sponsored five mile family walk takes place on Sunday 17th of February 2013, starting and finishing at Abbeycroft Leisure Centre in Haverhill, Suffolk.  Participants are encouraged to wear something red, and those who register in advance will receive special cookie recipes which can be made and enjoyed, or made and sold to raise further funds for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Commenting on Herbert’s sponsorship, Mark Channen, Head of Marketing, said: “It is an inevitable fact that one of us will be touched in some way by a life-shortening illness, either personally, or through friends, family and colleagues. It is good to know that such a caring and supporting hospice exists in our local community, offering mental and physical support in time of need. We are delighted to support St Nicholas Hospice Care, and various members of our staff will be taking part and assisting with the event. We would also like to encourage other individuals and families to take part in the five-mile walk; a great way to get some exercise, have fun and raise the much needed funding for the Hospice”.
